Meet the Campers!

Greetings, some time ago, the tutors of the Tolerance Camp were introduced, now it is time for you to meet the campers starting with a team of 5 students from Lithuania: Ieva, Rūta, Vitalija, Eimantas and Robertas as well as their teacher Neringa from Lentvaris Motiejus Šimelionis Gymnasium. Lentvaris Motiejus Šimelionis gymnasium was the first Lithuanian school in the town of Lentvaris that now has over 10,000 inhabitants. Lentvaris Motiejus Šimelionis gymnasium teaches students from grade 5 to grade 12, and has almost 600 students. They are very proud to be one of UNESCO Associated Schools that work in support of international understanding, peace, intercultural dialogue, sustainable development and quality education in practice. They hope to meet and make new friends at the camp, learn about tolerance and spread the idea of it in their community when they are back.

And here is a team of five brilliant students and their teacher Margarita from Rokiškis Senamiestis Pregymnasium. Their pregymasium is meant for students from grade 1 to 9 and has over 450 students. A very strong focus at school is placed on sports and healthy lifestyle but many students are also actively involved in cultural, artistic and social activities. The participants of the Tolerance Camp from Rokiškis are Vilius, Ąžuolas, Goda, Martyna and Rokas, they are glad to have an opportunity to meet new people, improve their English language skills, and have exciting adventures and positive emotions!

If we travel north from Lithuania, we will arrive in Latvia and this country is home for Karku Elementary School (established in 1885) represented by Ivis Niks, Ralfs, Nadina, Megija, Gustavs and their teacher Silva. It is a small country school with just around 46 students. Despite all the changes throughout the times, they are standing strong and proving their strenght with good positions at the local and country level competitions. They have their own bee apiary, apple tree garden, they love music and sports, which has taught them to keep their thoughts clear, hearts wide open, hands busy and to always think about their and nature’s well-being. That is why the symbol of their school and village is a golden bee.

Another Latvian representative is Daugmale Elementary School that was founded 90 years ago and its 6 students – Anna, Evelīna, Daniela, Agija, Lūcija and Gunārs – together with their teacher Anita have come to the international Tolerance Camp to improve their communication, co-operation and English language skills, as well as to spend a great week and meet some new friends. They know that each of us is different – somebody is good at drawing, someone is fascinated by books and some may be the funniest people you will ever meet, but the most important thing about them is that they know they are unique, and that by putting 31 unique students together, this will be the best camp ever.

Meet the northerners of the Baltic States -  the Estonians represented by Maidla School and Kohtla- Jarve Kesklinna.

Maidla School is a small countryside manor school in Estonia. It started operating in 1925. Currently there are 52 students studying at this amazing, nature-friendly and historical school. As there are not many students, they all know each other and are part of one awesome family. However, they are keen on new experience and meeting new people, Anna Helena, Marko, Daniela, Raili and Sven together with their teacher Anne-Liisi are really excited about their experience of the Tolerance Camp 2016 in Lithuania.

And last but not least, we have Kohtla-Jarve Kesklinna (Central) Primary School which is located ca. 160 km from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is a school of about 500 students from grades from 1 to 9. They are competitive, united and creative. Misha, Alissa, Valeria, Angelina and Alissa are here together with their teacher Anna,  because they are energetic young people, who are always ready to learn something new and interesting. Besides, they realize the importance of learning languages and would love to make new friends. They are glad to be at the Tolerance Camp and hope that this summer experience will be unforgettable and exciting.
