Tolerance Camp 2016 Preparatory Workshop

As the summer unfolds, the Tolerance Camp 2016 is almost within our reach, but before the camp starts, there is yet much to be done. The task of preparing for the camp lies in the hands of an international team of tutors - Anna and Anne-Liisi from Estonia, Anita and Silva from Latvia, Margarita and Neringa from Lithuania, plus student volunteers - Armantas and Orestas, from the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. 

During a three-day preparatory workshop, June 20-22, our team have been busy planning camp activities for teenagers, with the aim of integrating English language learning and values education, focusing on tolerance, diversity, human rights and social inclusion.

What is TOLERANCE CAMP?

Tolerance Camp is short for The Baltic States "Teaching Tolerance Through English" Camp. It is  a week-long multicultural camp for Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian youth which aims at fostering the development of tolerance, diversity, human rights, and civil society in our communities. The project is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania .

The camp should help the students, who have had limited exposure to other cultures, to understand the importance of tolerance and diversity, while improving their English language skills, to be more competitive for placement in higher educational institutions and the job market., in cooperation with the U.S. Embassies in Estonia and Latvia, and has been running in the Baltic States since 2011.
